The great return of Celine Dion to the stage is a reality, and indeed at one of the most significant cultural and sports events. The rumors that the artist, who has suffered for years from Stiff-Person Syndrome, which causes her various mobility and functionality issues, would perform live at the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris were joyfully confirmed as she took the stage in a dazzling maxi dress with a dramatic train to perform Édith Piaf.
Her performance touched many, not only with her singing but also with the message she shared with her audience on Instagram after the ceremony: «It was an honor for me to perform tonight at the Opening Ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, and I am filled with joy to have returned to one of my favorite cities! Above all, I am glad to have honored these amazing athletes, with their stories, stories of sacrifice and determination, pain and perseverance. All of you are so dedicated to your dreams and whether you return to your country with a medal, I hope that just being here is a dream come true! You must be very proud; we know how hard you worked to be the best of the best. Stay focused and keep fighting, my heart is with you!».
Before her live appearance, she had already declared herself determined not to miss it for anything, as she said in an interview: «I will return to the stage even if I have to crawl, even if I have to talk with my hands. I will do it. I am Celine Dion. Because today my voice will be heard for the first time, not because I have to or need to, but because I want to and I miss it».
