On July 26, the 2024 Olympic Games were officially opened in Paris. However, the ceremony was marred by a scandal at one of the many shows that were held on the opening day. Thus, one of the performances was accused of blasphemy, Satanism and mockery of religion.
People expressed their indignation on social networks, and politicians joined them, including MEP Marion Maréchal.
The opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games featured a performance featuring drag queens (men who dress in women’s clothing), transgender people, and transvestites. The show itself was styled after Leonardo da Vinci’s painting “The Last Supper.”
To say that neither the idea nor the performance were received with success is an understatement. Almost immediately, the show caused a flurry of negative comments on social networks and in the media. Not only adherents of the Christian faith were outraged, but also Jews. Popular blogger Eli David said that he, as a Jew, was extremely dissatisfied with such a demonstration of the image of Jesus and Christianity.

Another commentator noted that there are 2.4 billion Christians on Earth and with this performance the Olympic Games “wanted to loudly declare to everyone that they are not welcome.”
This is crazy. Opening your event by replacing Jesus and the disciples at the The Last Supper with men in drag. There are 2.4 billion Christians on earth and apparently the Olympics wanted to declare loudly to all of them, right out of the gate

The reaction reached politicians as well. Thus, right-wing conservatives from Marine Le Pen’s bloc also considered the show offensive. Deputy Marion Marechal noted that France has nothing to do with such a “show”, and this is said by “a left-wing minority ready for any provocation”.
To all the Christians of the world who are watching the #Paris2024 ceremony and felt insulted by this drag queen parody of the Last Supper, know that it is not France that is speaking but a left-wing minority ready for any provocation. #notinmyname

In addition, during the 2024 Olympics, there was another dubious performance – a mechanical horseman with an Olympic flag was moving along the Seine. Users saw in this sign a “pale horse” on which Death himself was riding – a harbinger of storms and wars.
Scandal with Korea
On the same day, another scandal occurred, but this time it was diplomatic. Thus, the South Korean team was declared as the “Democratic People’s Republic of Korea”.
According to the YonHap news agency, a French-language announcer said over the PA system: “Republique populaire democratique de Coree.” This was followed by an English-language announcement: “Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.” However, the subtitles on the screen showed the correct name: “Republic of Korea.”
The IOC has already apologised for this mistake.
