Sri Lanka beat India to win Asia Cup title for the first time. The Atapattu Army won the title by defeating India, who won the highest title of the tournament, by a big margin of 8 wickets in the final of the Women’s Asia Cup held in Dambulla on Sunday (July 28) afternoon.
India won the toss and batted first, scoring 165 runs for 6 wickets. In reply, Sri Lanka girls reached the target by losing 2 wickets in 18.4 overs.
Sri Lanka lost the wicket of Vishvi Gunaratne after 7 runs in the run chase. He was run out by 1 run. From there, captain Chamari Atapattu and Harshitha Samarawickrama made a pair of 87 runs to build the foundation of the team’s victory.

Kavisha of Sri Lanka took 2 wickets with 36 runs in 4 overs. Udeshika Prabadhani, Sachini Nissansala and Chamari Atapattu took 1 wicket each.
Kavisha was the man of the match in the final. Sri Lankan captain Chamari became the best in the series with 304 runs and 3 wickets.
