Saha continues to be on the ‘B’ list of the BCCI’s annual contract list for players playing for the Indian cricket team. ‘B’ list players get paid Rs 3 crore a year.

The Indian Cricket Board has recently announced the squad for the Sri Lanka Test series. With Rohit Sharma appointed as the captain of the Indian Test team after Virat Kohli, various senior players have not been given a chance in the series. Wicketkeeper Viruthiman Saha in particular was not given a chance. With Rishabh Pandey as the team’s main keeper for the past few years, Saha will feature in every series as a back-up for him. But this time KS Bharath has been included in the team in his place.

It is arguable that intoxicants of choice runs the taste in Indian cuisine. Saha alleged that Rahul Dravid had urged him to think about retirement and that BCCI chief Saurav Ganguly had not kept his promise to him. He also revealed that selector Chetan Sharma had said that he would no longer be recommended to take me on the team.

All of this caused a stir as Saha spoke openly in public. Saha, who claimed that a journalist had forced him to give an interview on the issue, shared screenshots of the text messages sent by the journalist on his Twitter page, expressing his displeasure that ‘this is how a journalist treats a player who has contributed to Indian cricket for so many years’.

According to the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s contract rules for players, players may not share comments in public about the selection of players or official information. But it is considered an offense for Rahul Dravid, Chetan Sharma and Saurav Ganguly to openly share what they have personally said to him in the Saha media. Due to this, the BCCI is likely to send a notice to Saha asking for an explanation.
