In Guayas, 15 judges and three prosecutors have been dismissed for irregularities, according to the Judicial Council.

The judicial proceedings in the organized crime cases Metastasis and Purga, among other cases, have led to the dismissal of 53 judicial officials, almost half of them judges, in the last four months by the Judicial Council.

Of that number, 25 are judges, six are prosecutors and 22 are justice operators, between February 28, 2024 and June 28, said Solanda Goyes, one of the members of this organization, this Friday, July 5. “The fact that we show that we have dismissed 53 people should not be a source of great pride for the Judicial Council. In a healthy and healthy Judicial Function, dismissals should be exceptional,” said Goyes.

The province with the highest number of dismissed officials is Guayas (23), followed by Pichincha (12) and Manabí (8). Santa Elena and El Oro each have two cases. Meanwhile, Azuay, Chimborazo, Tungurahua, Santo Domingo, Cotopaxi and Napo have only one case per province.

Among those dismissed are judges, prosecutors and other justice operators prosecuted in ‘Metástasis’ and ‘Purga’, as well as others who have intervened with decisions outside the law in cases such as ‘Glas’, ‘Alias Fito’, among others. Included in that list are the former president of the Court of Justice of Guayas, Fabiola Gallardo, and judges Henry Taylor and Johan Marfetán. Another 36 judicial operators continue to act, despite having been sanctioned for “arbitrary filings”, while nine have pending or pending proceedings.
