Morocco elected vice-president of the International Chovgan Federation

Rabat – Morocco was elected vice-president of the International Chovgan Federation during the constitutive general assembly, held on February 1-2 in the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku.

At the general assembly, which was attended by 18 countries, Azerbaijani Bahruz Nabiyev was elected president of the International Chovgan Federation, while Polish Maciej Olbrych was appointed secretary general.

The national polo team was crowned vice-world champion last November at the World Polo Championship held in Baku.

Chovgan, very popular in Azerbaijan, is a traditional equestrian game played on a flat field between two teams of players mounted on horses. As in polo, each team consists of four riders who use wooden mallets to try to get a small ball into the opponent’s goal.
