New Delhi: The Defence Ministry on Monday approved the procurement of 22 Land Navigation Systems (ALNS) for the Indian Army’s Armoured Fighting Vehicles (AFVs) and 22 Interceptor Boats for the Coast Guard. The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) headed by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh approved the acquisition proposals. There was no immediate information on the cost of the procurement of the Land Navigation System and Interceptor Boats.
The Defence Ministry said without giving details that the DAC also deliberated on several other procurement proposals. “The procurement of Advanced Land Navigation System (ALNS) for the Indian Army’s Armoured Fighting Vehicles (AFV) has been approved,” the ministry said.
The ministry said in a statement that the equipment will be procured from Chennai-based Bharat Electronics Limited. The purchase will be made under the Indigenously Designed, Developed and Manufactured (IDDM) category. The ministry said it has also approved a proposal to purchase 22 interceptor boats for the Coast Guard.
The Defense Ministry said that this will help in enhancing the capabilities of the Indian Coast Guard. DAC has provided AON for the purchase of 22 interceptor boats with state-of-the-art systems.
