BSP said yes, Peevski immediately refused – valuable political time was lost

Parliamentary forces from the 50th National Assembly were divided in their positions on whether to talk with “There is such a people” for the third mandate. The negotiations begin today, after the chairman of the group, Toshko Yordanov, received yesterday from President Rumen Radev the folder for forming a government.

“You advocate the thesis of the need for a regular government and defend the formula for a supra-party expert cabinet. Against the background of the conflicts between the parties, as well as the intra-party discords among a number of them, you demonstrate the stability of your parliamentary group and your positions, and I hope that this will help you in the successful implementation of the mandate”, the president addressed the representatives of the ITN, handing their folder. In response, Toshko Yordanov announced that negotiations will begin immediately, to which they will invite everyone – including the independents.

In addition to politicians, the ITN negotiating team will also include experts. Yordanov specified that the talks will be open to the media so that Bulgarian citizens can see “who said what, where we have points of intersection and who or which party will send the country to elections”.

“We will discuss the priorities for managing the country, we will specify the most urgent problems and measures for their solution, as well as we will discuss the specific terms for which we can achieve their implementation”, reads the invitation from ITN to the deputies, which was sent immediately after the conversation with the president of “Dondukov” 2. Only after that will he start talking about the cabinet, ministers and prime minister. Yordanov gave himself time until the end of the week to have clarity about the chance of realizing the third mandate.

The first meetings are with the 39 independent deputies, divided into 3 – the two factions from the former group of Velichie and the former members from the DPS group will talk separately with ITN. Kaloyan Metodiev, who was excluded from the BSP group, was expected with the people around Nikolay Markov, but he refused. He announced that it would be fairest for all independents to go together so that there would be no “group divisions that would emphasize the differences” between them. Or had a one-on-one meeting.

BSP will respond to ITN’s invitation, announced the head of the group, Borislav Gutsanov. “We accept the third mandate as the mandate of the parliament and we hope that it will be used to return the dialogue between the parties and reach an intersection of priorities for the development of the country,” he said. The Socialists are also ready to convene their National Council if the talks for a government progress.

2 hours after ITN announced that they would talk to everyone, DPS chairman Delyan Peevski demanded that the mandate be returned immediately, and that the president schedule elections “because he does not accept wasting valuable political time with cheap populism and clichés.” “The empty talk of ITN, which shows their political weakness, and the pressures of the temporary resident of “Dondukov” 2 are an imitation of politics and an absence of responsibility to the people. In addition, we are categorical – we cannot work with the pro-Russian party “Vazrazhdane” and this is the only, unassailable red line for us”, said Peevski. According to him, procrastination currently only supports the implementation of an unregulated election campaign.
