Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said, ‘In the meeting of 14 parties, it was unanimously decided to ban Jamaat-Chhatra Shibir politics.’
He said this at the press conference organized after the emergency meeting of the 14-party alliance at Ganobhaban on Monday (July 29) evening.
Obaidul Quader said, ‘The leaders of the 14-party alliance think that BNP, Jamaat, Chhatra Dal, Chhatra Shibir are involved in a conspiracy to destroy the independence and sovereignty of Bangladesh. They are conspiring to make the country ineffective through terror, anarchy, murder. They have created a destabilizing situation in the country by resorting to pickpocketing and firing recently to blame the government. People including members of the police force were killed and even the bodies were hanged. The process by which this terrorist group carried out the killings is unprecedented in history. It is necessary to eliminate this evil force against the country for the national interest.
He said, ’14 team thinks that the government should take necessary measures in order to ensure the safety of the students and the protection of their educational life. Today it was unanimously decided from the meeting of 14 parties that Jamaat-Shibir should be banned organizationally. We have proposed, we hope, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will take necessary administrative steps with her government.
