Nonghyup Economic Holdings is operating a pop-up store promoting Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) at Seoul Station.
GAP is a certification system that manages hazardous factors (such as pesticides and heavy metals) that may remain in agricultural products throughout the entire production and distribution stages in order to ensure the safety of agricultural products and protect the agricultural environment. It has been implemented in Korea since 2006 by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.
This pop-up store, which will be held until the 7th of next month, is an event promoted as part of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs’ GAP distribution support project. It will hold a citizen participation event (▲ SNS photo zone certification ▲ GAP quiz) to promote GAP, and sell around 20 types of GAP certified agricultural products at a discount of up to 30%.
Additionally, during the same period, a ‘GAP certified agricultural products’ discount event will be held on the online platform Nonghyup Mall, selling certified agricultural products at a 20% discount.
Meanwhile, to expand consumption of GAP agricultural products, major Hanaro Marts and large distributors will also sell peaches (1.8 kg, 1.5 kg) and melons (1 pack) at a 20% discount from August 2 to 4.
CEO Park Seo-hong said, “We organized this pop-up store and special event to raise consumer awareness of GAP-certified agricultural products and promote consumption,” and “We will continue to devise various measures to expand sales of GAP-certified agricultural products with guaranteed safety.”Reporter Jeong Jin-su, Donga.com [email protected]
