On this New Year’s Eve, the vigilance of the members of the National Security remains constant, adopting a preventive approach aimed at strengthening the feeling of security, and responding with dedication and selflessness to the call of duty.

On this occasion, exceptional measures were taken to strengthen the effectiveness of the security strategy adopted throughout the year, aimed at ensuring a local security presence 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

This is how, within the barracks of the Mobile Group for Maintaining Order (GMMO), security officials made final preparations before deployment, in accordance with a comprehensive and rigorous security plan.

Speaking on this occasion, the Tangier Police Prefect, Abdelkbir Farah, affirmed that like other decentralized security services nationwide, the Tangier Police Prefecture is working to implement a battery of measures, in accordance with the instructions of the Director General of National Security, to ensure the smooth running of the New Year festivities.

“The Tangier police prefecture has mobilized all the human and logistical resources at its disposal, provided by the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), in order to strengthen the feeling of security,” he stressed.

In fact, nearly 2,500 National Security and public force agents were mobilized to ensure the security of New Year’s Eve, coming from various security services such as the judicial police, public security, the tourist brigade and general intelligence.

Logistically, police vehicles with a distinctive visual identity were mobilized, in addition to the use of new technology to verify the identity of individuals and their vehicles through a pointing and verification system.

In addition to the checkpoints at the entrances to Tangier, mobile checkpoints have been deployed in the city’s districts, particularly in “Ahlan”, “Rahrah”, “Al Qods” and “Ain Ktiouat”, in addition to security devices along Mohammed VI Avenue (the cornice) and in the main squares of the city center.

To carry out this mission, the security forces actively mobilized to cover the intervention zone and respond quickly and efficiently to calls from citizens received by the command and coordination room.

The Tangier police prefect specified in this regard that all the specialized teams of the prefecture were mobilized, in particular the anti-gang brigade, the regional intervention brigade, the bomb disposal brigade and the dog brigade.

Guided by a sense of duty, National Security agents in Tangier are working to ensure the security of the New Year festivities and create an atmosphere of security and tranquility.
