Today, Sunday, the inauguration ceremony of “Massoud Pezeshkian” as President of Iran by the Supreme Leader “Ali Khamenei” began in Tehran, coinciding with Tehran issuing strongly worded threats to Israel!
The ceremony will be held at Imam Khomeini’s Husseiniya in the presence of Khamenei and a crowd of senior officials, where the Supreme Leader will implement the ruling of electing Masoud Pezeshkian based on Article 110, Clause 9 of the Iranian Constitution.
According to Iranian media, “the Minister of Interior will present a report on the progress of the first and second rounds of the 14th presidential elections during this ceremony, after reading the text of the decree of the elected president and the statements of the Supreme Leader.”
According to information, more than 2,500 national and military officials, heads of regions and universities, professors, representatives of various unions, and ambassadors of foreign countries residing in Tehran will attend the ceremony.
IRNA reported that 70 foreign delegations, including a number of senior officials from countries and international organizations, will participate in the swearing-in ceremony of the new Iranian president, which will be held next Tuesday.
In his first statements after his inauguration as President of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian stressed the “necessity of ensuring justice and freedoms for the country’s citizens, as well as Iran’s possession of ‘deterrence capabilities’ and strengthening its position in the Islamic world.”
“I pledge to the leader of the revolution that we will not take any path other than the path of social justice and fairness and that we will continue the path of the martyrs who served this people,” Pezeshkian said after Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei handed him the presidential decree to officially begin his duties as head of state.
He added: “We want an Iran that enjoys social justice, grants freedoms to all citizens, is powerful, and has deterrent and defensive capabilities.”
He continued: “We must reach the first rank in the economic field and strengthen our position in the Islamic world.”
Pezeshkian pointed out the necessity for Iran to have “relations based on constructive interaction with the countries of the world, especially the Islamic countries,” and said: “We will seek to enhance Iran’s position and strengthen its international relations based on the principle of dignity.”
For his part, Khamenei said that the 14th round of elections “took place in the best possible way, in a good and ethical competitive atmosphere,” and said that President Pezeshkian’s speech was “elaborate and profound, and indicates his commitment to the principles of popular religious sovereignty, and we must all support him.”
He added, “The priority is the economic factor, and we must take economic action, follow the steps of the previous government, and achieve new steps.”
In a related context, the Iranian Foreign Ministry warned Israel against “any new adventure against Lebanon under the pretext of the Majdal Shams incident in the Golan.”
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani said: “Any reckless Israeli attack against Lebanon could lead to the expansion of instability, insecurity and war in the region.”
He added that “the Zionist entity is primarily responsible for the unexpected consequences of such foolish behavior,” calling on “the United States to abide by its international and moral responsibilities towards international peace and security.”
Kanaani said: “The racist Zionist entity is trying to confuse world public opinion and justify its crimes in Palestine through a false and fabricated scenario,” stressing that “supporting stability and security in Lebanon and the region in the face of Zionist attacks is the task of the entire international community, especially the Security Council.”
On Saturday, 12 people were killed and others were injured when a rocket fell on the town of Majdal Shams in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights. The Israeli army pointed the finger at Hezbollah and threatened it with a harsh response. For its part, Hezbollah confirmed that it had nothing to do with the shelling that targeted Majdal Shams in the occupied Golan Heights, and denied responsibility for the incident.
