In a new poll, the Sahra Wagenknecht coalition is only one percentage point behind the Greens. The AfD can also be happy.

A new survey shows what the political balance of power in Germany could look like from next year. A third of all seats in the Bundestag will be occupied by members of populist parties. There is hardly any way around the BSW and the AfD. This is the result of the current Sunday trend of the opinion research institute Insa for “Bild am Sonntag”.

The Sahra Wagenknecht coalition received ten percent, which is the party’s best result. This puts the BSW just behind the Greens, who achieved eleven percent. Wagenknecht’s old party, Die Linke, remained at three percent and would therefore be out of the Bundestag.

The AfD is also gaining ground. It climbed by one point to 18 percent. Together with the BSW, the party would receive 28 percent of all votes, which corresponds to 31 percent of the seats in the Bundestag.

The strongest party remains the CDU/CSU union with 30 percent. The SPD lands at 15 percent and the FDP at five percent, so that the traffic light coalition stagnates at 31 percent.

The survey also provides figures on the government’s popularity. According to the survey, 73 percent of respondents said they were dissatisfied with the traffic light coalition. That is one percent more than in the previous month. Only 20 percent are satisfied with the traffic light coalition, one point more than before. Olaf Scholz did slightly better, with 23 percent satisfied with his work. Two thirds of respondents, however, reject him.
