The reception was attended by distinguished personalities including representatives of the British government, members of the House of Lords and the House of Commons, ambassadors of brotherly and friendly countries, academics and several other personalities from the worlds of business, arts and culture.
The reception, which took place in a friendly atmosphere reflecting the excellent relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the United Kingdom, was an opportunity for the participants to express their warmest congratulations to His Majesty the King on this happy occasion.
In a speech on this occasion, the Moroccan ambassador to the United Kingdom, Hakim Hajoui, stressed that ”since his accession to the Throne, His Majesty King Mohammed VI has always placed human development at the heart of his vision and empowerment at the center of his action”.
“The bold reforms launched by the Sovereign have gradually paved the way for a brighter future, by strengthening the capacities of citizens and institutions, consolidating our values of democracy and the rule of law, and helping to unleash the potential of our country,” he said.
As part of the consolidation of the social state, Morocco devotes 40% of its gross domestic product (GDP) to significant reforms, particularly in the health sector, with the ambitious objective of achieving universal health coverage and social protection for every Moroccan by 2030, assured the ambassador.
In the infrastructure section, Mr. Hajoui cited the example of Tangier Med, the largest port in the Mediterranean and Africa, which “has transformed Morocco into a global hub for trade.” “His Majesty the King wanted to create a platform linking Morocco to the rest of Africa, and Africa to the world,” he said.
In this sense, the ambassador recalled that since 1999, His Majesty the King has visited more than 30 African countries, which has given rise to more than 1,000 cooperation agreements, he detailed, recalling that more recently, the Sovereign launched the Atlantic initiative which aims to create a common space of prosperity and strengthen regional integration, by channeling the maritime opportunities offered by the Atlantic towards the landlocked African countries of the Sahel.
Furthermore, the ambassador did not fail to praise the excellent relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the United Kingdom, stressing that these relations “were forged over 800 years of common history and friendship, based on the strong ties that unite our two monarchies and the privileged relations between the two Royal families”.
For his part, the Principal Private Secretary to Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla, Sir Clive Alderton, recalled that the friendship between Morocco and the United Kingdom and that uniting the Sovereigns of the two countries have contributed so much to broadening and deepening relations between the two countries, which stem from eight centuries of ties between the two Kingdoms.
“The warm relationship between the two Royal Families is the common thread of the wider political, economic and social ties that bind us all together,” said Sir Clive Alderton, who had served as British ambassador to Morocco.
The reception, which was marked by the organization of a photographic exhibition marking the key moments of the reign of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, was also lulled by the voice of the talented singer Nabila Maan, who graced the guests with melodious rhythms drawn from the vast Moroccan repertoire.
