There is a growing interest of Kazakh tourists in Azerbaijan.
As reported by Day.Az, this was told to Trend by the director of the international markets department of JSC NC Kazakh Tourism, Ainura Zhumataeva.
“In 2022-2023, the tourist flow from Azerbaijan to Kazakhstan increased by 1.7 times. That is, almost twice – from 59 thousand people in 2022 to 99 thousand in 2023. At the same time, there is an increase in interest among Kazakhstani tourists in Azerbaijan. First of all, I believe that this is facilitated by your event management, when you bring a large number of world stars, which especially attracts the young generation of Kazakhstan, who are happy to go to Baku,” she said.
According to Zhumataeva, there are good ties between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan in the field of tourism.
“Kazakh Tourism very often cooperates with airlines, and not only with the national air carrier Air Astana and the low-cost airline FlyArystan. For example, last year we had a joint project with the Azerbaijani airline AZAL on the inaugural flight. So, on the Novruz holiday, we supported the airline’s first flight and brought a group of bloggers and journalists who visited Kazakhstan, in particular Almaty and the Almaty region,” the director of the department said.
Speaking about the development of the tourism sector in Kazakhstan, Zhumataeva noted that last month a meeting was held headed by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on the development of tourism.
“This is a big event for us because the head of state also focuses on the development of tourism. The head of state identified three main regions for tourism development. This is the Almaty mountain cluster, which registers half a million tourist arrivals. The second region is the Shchuchinsk-Borovskoye resort area. And the third is beach tourism in Aktau. KazakhTourism has plans to support the development of these three regions. That is, at present, these three areas are a priority in order to create the necessary ecosystem for tourists. This includes a good road, restaurants, excursions, etc.,” she said.
According to the director of the department, in addition to infrastructure development, it is also necessary to invest in labor resources.
“We need guides and tourism managers so that each region has a pool that will make it possible to receive a large number of tourists,” added Zhumataeva.
