Tel Aviv Marathon 2022

The Tel Aviv Marathon was launched this morning, after last year it did not take place due to the corona epidemic and it was launched earlier than planned due to the expectation of rain. The decision to advance the jumps by half an hour proved itself and by nine o’clock dark clouds were already visible covering the sky and shortly afterwards the rain began to wash over the runners and the crowd that was at the expo.

Those who jumped first and may have remained mostly dry, are the half marathon runners who set off as early as a quarter to six and the other end of the half marathon that left at six. Despite the fear that the weather and winds would be an obstacle for the runners along the sea, it did not seem to hurt the half marathon runners as the wind was gentle while the temperatures were low enough and stood at about 12 degrees in the early hours, allowing many runners a comfortable run. For the full marathon runners who jumped at six-thirty and ran a much greater distance along the shoreline the wind posed a problem and slowed down some of the runners.

In the winners section these were three Kenyan runners who made a general winners podium. Vincent Rono won the full Tel Aviv Marathon after finishing in a time of 2:12:55 hrs and he did not break the track record set in 2015 by William Kiprono Yagon of Kenya who stands at a time of 2:10:30 hrs. In second place came Alfred Kipkamboy Coach who finished in a time of 2:15:38 hrs and in third place closed the podium John Langt also from Kenya in a time of 2:17:50 hrs.
