jpnn.comPARIS – The winning points obtained by Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto in the first match of the Group C preliminary round of the 2024 Paris Olympics are confirmed to be lost.
This follows the withdrawal of German men’s doubles pair Mark Lamsfuss/Marvin Seidel.
The world number 31 pair will not be able to continue their journey in Paris 2024 due to Mark Lamsfuss suffering a knee injury.
Thus, the remaining matches involving Mark Lamsfuss/Marvin Seidel, each against Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty (India) and Lucas Corvee/Ronan Labar (France) will not be played.
The withdrawal of Lamsfuss/Seidel also harmed the Indonesian men’s doubles pair, Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto.
Fajar/Rian’s victory over Lamsfuss/Seidel no longer counts, so their points are lost.
The reason is, based on BWF rules, when a player withdraws in the group phase, the results obtained by that player and future results will be deleted.
Lamsfuss/Seidel are considered not to have participated in the Group C competition for the 2024 Paris Olympics, and their results will not be counted.
