The situation with the forest fire that is burning near the seaside resort of Shenzhen, Northwestern Albania, is critical, Euronews Albania reported.
The heat and wind spread the fire throughout the area, forcing vacationers to leave their hotels.
One of them told Euronews Albania that the fire created panic among the tourists, among whom there were children. He added that many of the people’s personal belongings are in their hotels and homes and they do not have the opportunity to take them.
The man explained that they had been notified of the fire by the police and the hotel and were required to leave the area.
The media reported that hundreds of cars were being towed from the Shenzhen area.
According to data from the Albanian edition of Radio Free Europe, the forest fire is burning around the “Inheritor” complex, near the port of Shenzhen, in the area known as “Rana e Vogël”.
In the past, this was a war zone, the media reported.
According to the Albanian agency ATA, the flames are moving quickly towards an area with houses and apartments where local people live or tourists are accommodated. The fire also covered umbrellas on the beach, writes BTA.
More than 20 fire trucks and more than 80 operatives from the Albanian State Police, the Armed Forces and the country’s fire service are working to extinguish the fire.
