OLYMPIC GAMES
Panagiotis Gkionis perfectly combined his sixth participation in the Olympic Games with his debut in table tennis, defeating Canadian Li Edward 4-0 in sets and advancing to the “32” of the tournament.
Panagiotis Gkionis made history on Sunday evening (28/7) as his debut in the table tennis tournament marked his sixth participation in the Olympic Games, an achievement that only three Greeks have accomplished so far (Aggis Kasoumis, Tasos Bountouris, and Evangelia Psarra).
The Greek athlete celebrated this day with a victory, as he triumphed over Canadian Li Edward 4-0 (11-6, 11-8, 11-8, 11-4) in 34 minutes and advanced to the “32”.
There, he will face American Kanak Jha, who defeated South Korean Daseongg Choi 4-2.
