BOLZANO. The Provincial Council of Bolzano continued the joint discussion of the three provincial bills presented by the government: the “General financial statement of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano for the financial year 2023”, the “Supplementary budget of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano for the financial year 2024 and for the three-year period 2024-2026” (the adjustment law) and the “Consolidated general financial statement of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano for the financial year 2023”.

The eleven articles of the 2023 Financial Statement were approved without discussion, and the detailed examination of the budget adjustment amounting to 587 million euros was started, of which approximately 100 million euros are earmarked for personnel for the collective agreements. Another 70 million euros approximately will go to agricultureat the forestry and to the turismo; 50 million euros are earmarked for the health and 43 million euros to social affairs.

For the construction of further infrastructure in the New Techpark another 31 million will be used, while 29 million will go to the Civil Protection Agency which must deal with interventions for meteorological events that have become more frequent and more serious. Of these 29 million, 13 are destined for contributions to the Municipalities and 16 for the control of the streams. Additional funds have been allocated to the cculture and sportincluding approximately 4 million euros in investment contributions for sports facilities of supra-municipal interest.

In the reply to the general discussion on the three measures, the President of the Province, Arno Kompatscherstressed that “South Tyrol is one of the few regions in Europe and the only one in Italy that, in recent years, has reduced taxes, such as the additional Irpef, despite the growing costs, but tax revenues – he added – are still high and we can be proud of this”. As for sustainability, he continued, “more than ever we are investing in public transport, from rail to buses, to parking at stations to bicycle parking and we are also committed to ensuring that companies and families have support to take a step towards sustainability”.

“The challenges – Kompatscher then admitted – are in health, social and security, but – he warned – there is also a government program that focuses on concrete needs: those who respect the rules must find a home and a place to live in peace”. To the criticisms of the coalition with the center-right forces, he replied by observing that in the majority “we are not always of the same opinion on ideological or political issues, there are differences, but it is always like this in a coalition, and that is why a very concrete government program has been drawn up, with a very clear basic approach”.
