Death of artist Boujemaâ Oujoud: the Ministry of Culture remembers a pioneer of art and theater in the Kingdom
Rabat – The Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication announced the death of artist Boujemaâ Oujoud, alias “Ba Azizi”, who passed away on Wednesday in a clinic in Casablanca at the age of 83, after a long fight against illness.
The deceased is considered one of the pioneers of art and theater in Morocco, who became famous in the 1960s thanks to his plays and television works, the ministry noted.
From a young age, the late Boujemaâ Oujoud joined theater veterans such as El Bachir Laâlaj, Bouchaïb El Bidaoui and Abderrahmane Souiri, may God rest their souls, to begin his artistic career on the stage, it was recalled.
The artist shone in the 1960s in a series of theatrical, radio and television works where he played, for the most part, the role of servant which was at the origin of his pseudonym “Ba Azizi”, added the same source.
The late Boujemaâ Oujoud suffered, in recent years, from successive illnesses which led to the deterioration of his state of health, particularly with advancing age.
On this occasion, the ministry expressed its sincere condolences and compassion to the family of the deceased as well as to his cultural and artistic family, imploring the Most High to surround him with His Holy Mercy and to welcome him into His vast paradise.
