Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said that Jamaat is being banned as per Article 18 of Anti-Terrorism Act. He also said that a notification can be issued in this regard at any time.
He said these things to reporters at the Home Minister’s office in the Secretariat on Wednesday (July 31).
The minister said that Jamaat is being banned as per Section 18 of the Anti-Terrorism Act. It is still in process. The decision will be announced at any moment. Notification will be issued anytime.
He said, Jamaat-Shibir was banned earlier. In this country, the people in favor of the liberation war and the civilized people have been talking about banning the Jamaat. It was the demand of common people. In a meeting with the Prime Minister of 14 parties, they also suggested banning Jamaat-Shibir. Jamaat-Shibir created the ongoing situation. Jamaat-Shibir-BNP has done destructive work in front of students. They are barred from facing trial.
Stating that some issues including the banning of Jamaat have been discussed with the Prime Minister, the minister said, “We have a meeting in the morning.”
