An agreement was approved between the European Integrated Circuits Joint Undertaking and the Ministry of Innovation and Growth
The Council of Ministers adopted a decision to propose to the Parliament for ratification an Administrative Agreement between the joint venture “Integral Schemes” and the Ministry of Innovation and Growth of the Republic of Bulgaria.
Bulgaria’s participation in the initiatives under the European Legislative Act on Integrated Circuits (EU Chips Act) through the “Integrated Circuits” joint venture will strengthen the competitiveness and sustainability of our country in the field of semiconductor technologies and achievements and will help to realize the dual digital and green transition , says the announcement of the government press office.
Integrated circuits are a building block of technical progress. The recent shortage of semiconductors demonstrates how important they are for the entire European industry, and in particular for Bulgaria, which has a built-up professional capacity in the field.
The active role in Europe’s leading initiatives supporting key technologies and innovations is an important sign of Bulgaria’s transformation into a place where products and services with high added value are created through research and development activities, which attract high-tech investments.
Participation in European partnerships is an essential step towards establishing us as a country with the potential for deep technological innovation.
Bulgaria has long-standing traditions in the field of microelectronics – a strong scientific base and innovative enterprises. We also have the potential to develop a European hub for talent in the field of microelectronics and semiconductor technologies and thus establish ourselves as an investment destination in the field of integrated circuits, the announcement added.
