Whenever Delhi-born Bollywood actress Sanya Malhotra comes to the capital, she feels like she is returning home. Recently, when she reached Delhi during the rains, she remembered her college days. Sanya said, ‘I was thinking that since I am coming to Delhi from the rains of Mumbai, I might get to see some sunshine here. But rain welcomed me in Delhi too. As soon as it rains in Delhi, there is a traffic jam. It took me two hours to reach Central Delhi from the airport.’ She further said, ‘While living in Mumbai, you get used to the rain. It rains there for the whole month, so you are prepared for it. Nothing stops there due to rain. People there are used to it. Everyone has an umbrella, raincoat and extra clothes. But here in Delhi, no one knows when it will rain suddenly. Its effect is visible on the traffic. After a long time, getting stuck in a traffic jam due to rain reminded me of the old days, when I had to go home after college and it would rain, and then it would take several hours to reach home.
I endorse carefully
Usually celebrities are accused of endorsing products that they themselves do not use. But influenced by them, fans buy the product. When we asked Sanya, who had come to the capital to launch the new flavor of probiotic milk Yakult, about this, she said, ‘I have been using this product for a long time. I already keep posting about it on social media. While endorsing any other product, I also keep in mind that I do not ask my fans to buy any product that I am not fully aware of. It is very important for me that if my values do not match with any brand, then I do not consider it right to associate with it.’
This is how Sanya learns
She further said, ‘Due to this, I refused to be associated with many products. Due to this thinking of mine, even my team is not happy with me. Actually, as a celebrity, you get offers to endorse different types of products, but I think a lot about these things. Initially, after doing some endorsements, I used to feel that I should not have done this. Now I feel that you learn these things more with age.’
‘I will go home and eat pakoras’
There is no dearth of pakoda and tea lovers in Delhi during the rainy season. We asked Sanya if she too craves for pakodas as soon as the raindrops start falling? In response to this she said, ‘Absolutely, I too remember pakodas as soon as it rains. I usually don’t drink tea, but everyone at my house drinks a lot of tea and eats pakodas. Today I remembered that as soon as it rains, my mother used to make pakodas. Let me tell you that my mother makes very good pakodas. Especially the spinach and cauliflower pakodas made by her are amazing. You reminded me well. Now I am going to eat pakodas when I go home.’
