The reception held at the Moroccan residence in the Chilean capital was attended by former President Eduardo Frei, Interior Minister Carolina Toha, Foreign Minister Alberto Van Klaveren, Defense Minister Maya Fernandez and Education Minister Nicolas Cataldo.
Also present were the Minister of National Assets, Marcela Sandoval, the Minister of Energy, Diego Pardow, the Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage, Carolina Arredondo, the Minister of Mines, Aurora Williams, as well as the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Karol Cariola, ambassadors and numerous civil and military figures.
In a speech on this occasion, the Moroccan ambassador to Chile, Kenza El Ghali, indicated that the last 25 years have seen Morocco take up challenges and accomplish many achievements, asserting a policy of openness and tolerance.

Addressing the bilateral aspect, the Moroccan ambassador stressed that Chile and the Kingdom “are exploring many avenues of cooperation and are determined to consolidate and strengthen them within the framework of diversified cooperation.”
For his part, the Chilean Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed his joy at taking part in the celebration of the Throne Day at the Moroccan embassy, which is “a country rich in history and culture, a melting pot of traditions and modernity.”
Alberto Van Klaveren praised the different facets of Moroccan culture, from music to gastronomy, including the arts, architecture and Moroccan savoir-vivre.
“Today, we are not only celebrating Moroccan culture, but also the reign of HM King Mohammed VI, who since his accession to the Throne in 1999, has driven significant reforms in areas as diverse as the economy, human rights and the modernization of the political system,” said the Chilean minister.
“Under the leadership of HM the King, Morocco has moved towards greater openness and development, consolidating its place as a key player in the Maghreb, Africa and the world,” Alberto Van Klaveren stressed.
Guests at this reception also watched a video retracing the major projects carried out in Morocco in recent years.
