Vacation at sea in August remains the most preferred period for most Bulgarian families. Prices on last-minute offers this season are turning out to be 10-15% lower, a check shows.
Teodora is from the town of Berkovitsa and is coming for the sixth year in a row to vacation in Ravda. He tells us that it is calm and pleasant here, and the prices are affordable. She chose her vacation long ago and reserved her vacation in early bookings.
“We prefer not to be all inclusive, but without food, we go out to eat,” Teodora said. “And we satisfy the child’s needs, ours too, we don’t deprive ourselves of anything,” she explained.
The largest summer resort in Bulgaria – “Sunny Beach” is full. At the beginning of August, tour operators and hoteliers report 60-70% occupancy. “It’s not the peak we expected, but occupancy is good,” said Elena Andonova – hotelier and tour operator .
The pleasant surprise for hoteliers and tour operators is that the Bulgarians are back this season. The usual tourists here this summer are from Romania, Poland, Great Britain, the Czech Republic, a few from Germany and the Scandinavian countries.
“About 40% choose last minute trips. At the moment, 50-60% are organized in this way,” Andonova said. Thus, the month of August comes with reductions in offers. And the discounts are between 10 and 15%.
According to hotelier Violeta Galeva, almost all her colleagues have made last minute offers. “And they are much more profitable than planned. It works out to ten leva per person when the offer is last minute. Bulgarian families benefit the most, and these are families with children who receive various discounts,” said Galeva.
Andonova explained that they have different offers. For two or more nights, the requested package is based on all inclusive, and for one or two nights, i.e. weekend-tourism or last minute, the search which is mainly for the weekend, “bed and breakfast” is preferred there.
Tourists are looking for good food and peace at night, according to hoteliers. Entertainment is extremely important, especially for families with children.
“Animators are very important, animators diversify the stay of tourists, especially when they are with children. And this is a big plus for all the hotels that offer it,” Violeta Galeva added. Among the sought-after entertainment are those in water parks and sea attractions.
The prices of a 15-minute jet ride in the sea vary from BGN 80 to BGN 110. For regular tourists, there are package prices for several days, which are also discounted. The most expensive attraction is the parachute.
In the south, among the pleasures during the beach vacation are an ATV ride. The flight over the coastline with a small two-seater plane or gyrocopter is between BGN 300 and BGN 400 per hour.
Other tourists prefer a daytime disco bar on a ship where they can stay all day. The Bulgarian sea turns out to be cheap, pleasant and preferred by foreigners, who, according to preliminary data from tour operators, are already making reservations for the next season.
The next reductions are expected to take effect after August 20, Nova said.
