Fire Erupts in Koropi: Residents Evacuated as Emergency Teams Respond

Fire broke out in the morning in low vegetation in the area of Agia Marina Koropi, eastern Attica, causing a significant mobilization of the fire department.

The fire occurred very close to houses; however, by the afternoon, the situation at the front had improved, with the fire being subdued.

Messages from 112 for the evacuation of residents

Through a message from 112, residents and visitors in the areas of Megalo Metohi and Xelafaki Agia Marina were urged to evacuate toward Agios Dimitrios Street and the Coastal Road.

Earlier, through a message from 112, residents and visitors of the area Megalo Metohi Agia Marina were called to evacuate towards Koropi – Agia Marina Avenue.

There had been a previous message from 112 urging residents and visitors in the area to remain alert and to follow the authorities’ instructions.

The fire department’s forces have been strengthened

At noon, the forces of the fire department operating at the scene were strengthened.

Specifically, 85 firefighters are operating with 4 teams of forest commandos and 25 vehicles.

From the air, 2 aircraft and 5 helicopters have been mobilized.

Support is provided by water tankers from local governments and construction machinery.

Traffic regulations

Due to the fire, traffic regulations have been activated in the area.

Specifically, according to the latest update from the Hellenic Police, traffic is being diverted at the intersections of Agios Dimitrios and Athens – Sounio avenues, Agios Dimitrios and Sparta, Agia Marina and Taxiarchon, as well as the streets Karpathou – Ithakis, Charavgi – Nafpaktou, and Charavgi – Sparta.
