On Saturday morning, V. Senkutė covered the distance of 2000 meters in 7 minutes in single rowing. 20.85 sec. and after taking the third place won the first medal for Lithuania.

“Congratulations to Viktorija Senkute on winning her first medal at the Paris Olympic Games. Viktorija proved her talent and strong preparation today and created a celebration for all the people of Lithuania! Will, determination and perseverance are the qualities that we can all learn from the bronze-winning Lithuanian rower”, said the head of the country.

According to the President, V. Senkutė’s victory was accompanied by hard work and endurance, and her hard work and desire for victory are an inspiration to all of us.

Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania I.Šimonytė also sent her wish to the Olympic medalist.

“Each Olympic medal shines not only with gold, silver or bronze, but above all with enormous work, dedication to the goal and sportsmanship. And it is this achievement that is also an inspiring example of an extraordinary sports path. Lithuania is proud of you, Victoria!”, Prime Minister I. Šimonytė said in her greeting.
