The political responsibility of the GERB leader will be heavy, said Stanislav Balabanov
ITN reported that with the dialogue on forming a government with the third mandate, they gave “the historic opportunity to all political formations to act statesmanship”. Some of them did it, others did not yet have a clear position.
“The responsibility of the first political force and its leader was to see if there is an opportunity in such a severe political crisis to act in a statesmanlike manner,” declared Stanislav Balabanov. After nearly 2 and a half hours of conversation, he said that with GERB they have “more than 100% coverage on the most important priorities in the state and on policies and laws that can happen immediately.” Therefore, the eyes were now on the leader of GERB.
“The shadow that hung over the leader of GERB perhaps once again hid the desire for expertise of his representatives,” said Balabanov, outraged by the preliminary conclusion and decision of the largest party, in his opinion.
“One specific person wants quick elections – Delyan Peevski. Based on what we are observing, the question arises as to whether the shadow of Delyan Peevski over the leader of the first political force is too big,” said Balabanov. And he attacked Boyko Borisov, who had to decide for himself – whether he was on the side of one person or on the side of his experts.
He predicted dire political consequences for GERD.
For now, ITNs have refused to comment on the options for a caretaker cabinet before they return the third mandate to form a government.
Balabanov summarized that after the talks normalcy was achieved in the National Assembly. “I doubt that the Bulgarian citizens will forgive the personal party interests of certain people, who put the ideas of reform in the swamp behind the scenes. The political responsibility of Boyko Borisov, which he took on today, will be heavy. He will bear the full consequences.”
