The promotion of investments dedicated to the regulation of the informal economy will allow the insertion of street vendors into the economic circuit (Baitas)
Rabat – The promotion of investments dedicated to the regulation of the informal economy will allow the integration of street vendors into the economic circuit, indicated, Thursday in Rabat, the Minister Delegate in charge of Relations with Parliament, Government Spokesman, Mustapha Baitas.
Asked during a press briefing following the Government Council on the efforts made to address the challenges related to this economic model, Mr. Baitas stressed that the government is addressing this issue through four axes including the projects of the National Initiative for Human Development, and the law relating to the status of the self-entrepreneur.
It also involves the rehabilitation and upgrading of markets that were the subject of agreements signed between the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the regions, as well as the equipment of pilot markets and commercial complexes in many cities, explained the minister.
A report published last year by the Economic, Social and Environmental Council called for the implementation of an integrated strategy aimed at gradually reducing the weight of the informal economy and the share of informal employment to 20% of total jobs.
