The Government and Communeros del Sur front, ELN dissidents, sign a roadmap for peace in Nariño

In the township of Betania, municipality of Samaniego, in Nariño, the first session of the Instance for the Joint construction of Territorial Peace was held in that department this Saturday, August 3, after it was presented on July 19 in Pasto.

This first session came, which ended with the signing of the process roadmap, which “establishes a framework of action with the objective of ending armed violence, promoting a process of territorial transformation that recreates life projects. of the inhabitants in the ten municipalities.”

The areas covered by this approach are Los Andes Sotomayor, La Llanada, Mallama, Santa Cruz de Guachavés, Guachucal, Cumbal, Samaniego, Providencia, Barbacoas and Ricaurte.

This session with the group Comuneros del Sur, a dissident of the ELN, It seeks to de-escalate violence in the short term, “to implement a sustainable territorial transformation in the long term and to move the members of the Frente Comuneros del Sur to full citizenship and towards social and political movement in the medium term.” .”

Delegates from the national government were present at the signing, led by its coordinator, Carlos Erazo, as well as representatives of the Southern Community Front, with its commander, Gabriel Yepes, alias “HH”together with the delegates of the Colombian Bishops’ Conference, the Mission to Support the Peace Process of the Organization of American States (MAPP-OAS) and the representative of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

Erazo said that work is being done on the formation of the work teams that will be responsible for the implementation of these axes, which are expected to be publicly installed between August 15 and 16 in the city of Bogotá, and emphasized that “go advanced in this process for the joint construction of peace is noticeable” since “this search for territorial peace starts from the realities of the territory and hand in hand with the main people, to show that there is a big difference between working for of peace while they are in the territories and to do it while in the capital or outside the country.”

Clemencia Carabalí Rodallega, also a representative of the Government and who is part of the work team to de-escalate the violence, highlighted the role of women within the process. “I think that women, as givers of life and peace-builders, must be in this exercise of total peace; It is our country too,” he said.

Work has been underway on this roadmap to achieve peace in this territory for a year.

It is important to point out that the The ELN Central Command has always been against peace talks between the Government and the Comuneros del Sur frontalleging that the latter is in disobedience to his organization.

This is one of the reasons why the talks between that guerrilla and the Casa de Nariño are still frozen.
