Tehran: Are Iranian agents involved in the death of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh in Iran? A big claim has been made in The Telegraph report. According to the report, Israeli intelligence agency Mossad hired Iranian security agents to plant bombs in three different rooms of a building. This was the same building in which Haniya was staying. The original plan to kill Haniya was in May, when Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi died in a helicopter crash. Haniya attended his funeral. Reports quoted Iranian officials as saying that there was a huge crowd inside the building and the operation was postponed due to the possibility of its failure. Instead, the two agents planted bombs in three rooms of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps guesthouse in northern Tehran where Haniya could have stayed. According to officials who have CCTV footage of the building, the agents go to one room for a few minutes and then leave from there and go to another room. All this is happening secretly. It is said that the operatives fled the country. But one of their sources was still in Iran. At 2 a.m. on Wednesday they used explosives brought from abroad to blow up the room where Haniyeh was staying.
The hand of Iran’s agents
An official of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said, ‘It is now certain that Mossad has hired agents from the Ansar-al Mahdi security unit. Upon further investigation, additional explosive devices were found in two other rooms.’ Another official of the IRGC’s elite military forces told the Telegraph, ‘This is humiliating for Iran and a major security lapse.’ The official said that it is still a big question that how did all this happen? There may also be high-level officials, about whom no one knows. An official revealed that there is discord within the IRGC after the attack. People are accusing each other of security lapse.
Iran’s supreme leader is also angry
According to reports, IRGC Quds Force commander Ismail Kani is calling people to be fired, arrested and killed because this security lapse has humiliated everyone. He further said that Iran’s Supreme Leader has summoned several commanders several times in the last two days for accountability. The IRGC is also considering a retaliatory action. After Haniya’s killing, fears have increased about Israeli influence inside Iran.
