A general holiday has been declared for three days from tomorrow, Monday (August 5).
The government announced this holiday in an executive order on Sunday (August 4). Abdullah Shibli Sadiq, Public Relations Officer of Ministry of Public Administration confirmed this information to RisingBD.
Senior Secretary of Public Administration Ministry Mohammad Mezbah Uddin Chowdhury also informed about the general holiday.
Later, a notification was issued by the Ministry of Public Administration declaring a general holiday for three days. It said that the government has declared a nationwide general holiday on August 5, 6 and 7 (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday) by executive order.
All Government, Semi-Government, Autonomous, Semi-Autonomous and Private Offices will remain closed during the general holidays.
It also says that emergency services such as electricity, water, gas and other fuels, fire service, port operations, cleaning operations, telephone and internet, postal services and vehicles and workers engaged in these related services will be out of the scope of this holiday.
Besides, hospitals and emergency services and staff related to these services, doctors and staff engaged in medical services and vehicles and staff carrying medical equipment including medicines and offices related to emergency work will be out of the scope of this holiday, the notification said.
The notification also informed that the Supreme Court will give necessary instructions regarding the operation of the Bangladesh Bank and the court regarding the continuation of the banking activities.
