The youth became a farmer and changed the identity of traditional farming by growing exotic crops. Yes, today’s story is about olive farming, it sounds a bit strange to hear that olive farming is taking place in India. Mukesh Manju of Rajasthan has been showing the nearby farmers a new way to increase their income by growing dates, pomegranate, sweet lime along with olives in his 26 acre farm for the last 10 years, for this he even left his well-paying job.
Before taking up farming, he was in the Indian Army, from the Army he went to NSG and was a Commando in the National Security Guard.
He was fond of farming since childhood but he wanted to do something different from traditional farming. He was so fond of farming that whenever Mukesh went to Gulf countries while working in NSG, he would meet the farmers there to get information about new technology and crops.
Not only this, instead of coming home during holidays, he used to take training in farming. 10 years ago when he decided to quit his job and join farming completely, not only his family but also the villagers taunted him, but Mukesh was sure that he was doing something different.
Due to which the income of farmers like him can be increased. Today he is earning a good amount from Multiple Farming, Animal Husbandry and Agro Tourism. Not only this, he produces 20 tons of olives annually from his farms, which he is earning good profits by selling raw as well as making olive oil.
Today, guests from not only the country but also from abroad come to see the exotic fruits and vegetables grown at Mukesh’s Manjoo Farm, who has turned from a soldier to a farmer. I hope you too liked the story of this farmer of the country.
