It is true that it is proposed that this decision does not prevent A. Vyšniauskas from running in the single-mandate electoral district in Marijampole. On Friday, he said that he intends to participate in the Seimas elections.

“Before the meeting, the headquarters received an appeal from A. Vyšniauskas regarding two issues. One request was to remove him from the multi-mandate TS-LKD electoral list and make it possible for him to run in a single-mandate constituency.

The headquarters, after evaluating various circumstances, decided to approve both requests of A. Vyšniauskas”, reported the head of the TS-LKD election headquarters, Mindaugas Lingė.

According to him, by running in the single-mandate electoral district, A. Vyšniauskas will be able to defend his positions and explain the circumstances to his voters.

“We do not yet know the exact information under which factual circumstances the candidate we nominated is accused. It is after evaluating all of this that we leave the best judge for the voters who will evaluate in the elections in less than three months”, explained M. Lingė.

By the way, the conservatives will support A. Vyšniauskas’ candidacy financially and in other ways in a single mandate.

“All the same decisions, which have already been approved by the structures of the Homeland Union, would apply, what about single-mandate candidates. We propose not to change those decisions. This is the position of the headquarters. All nominated candidates operate under the same conditions,” said the head of the TS-LKD election headquarters.

M. Lingė emphasized that if A. Vyšniauskas is deleted, all positions in the list of multi-mandate candidates from the 11th place would go up by one place.

“Today I made probably the most difficult decision in my life – I will participate in the Seimas elections in the Marijampolė single-mandate district, but you will not see me on the TS-LKD list. What I’ve been living through since last week, although it reminds me of a terrible dream, is really a reality that I don’t want anyone to face.

A reality that I will have to live with for a few more months, until I have a civilized opportunity to defend myself not on TV shows, but in the courtroom,” A. Vyšniauskas himself announced on Facebook soon after.

Last week, Prosecutor General Nida Grunskienė appealed to the Seimas to revoke A. Vyšniauskas’ legal immunity. The General Prosecutor’s Office plans to file charges of possible abuse and fraud against the member of the Seimas involved in the so-called check scandal.

The prosecutor’s office claims that the information it has gathered allows us to reasonably believe that A. Vyšniauskas may have submitted forged documents to the Marijampolė municipality administration regarding the reimbursement of his activity expenses as a member of the council.

According to the prosecutors, it is possible that more than 2.1 thousand was illegally paid to the former member of the council, who also headed the anti-corruption commission of the municipality. amount of euros.

As a result of this investigation and the prosecutor’s request submitted to the Seimas, A. Vyšniauskas hastily resigned from the position of the elder of the TS-LKD faction in the Seimas, to which he was appointed less than a month ago, as well as from the Seimas Law and Law and Order Committee.

Previously, the name of this politician was mentioned as a possible candidate to head the European Affairs Committee of the Seimas. According to the statute of the Seimas, the position of head of this committee can be held by the vice-chairman of the Seimas.

Before becoming the Minister of Education, Science and Sports, Radvilė Morkūnaitė-Mikulėnienė held the positions of faction elder, Seimas vice-chairman and committee head.

It was believed that A. Vyšniauskas could take over all three positions from her, but the conservative Žygymantas Pavilionis was unexpectedly proposed and elected as the Deputy Speaker of the Seimas.

However, the conservatives deny that they had information in advance about the impending troubles for A. Vyšniauskas.

Politicians claim that the prosecutors’ request was a big surprise to them, and that A. Vyšniauskas was not suitable for the Seimas vice-chairmen and heads of the European Affairs Committee of the Seimas due to his lack of experience and the fact that he might not have received sufficient support during the secret ballot.

A. Vyšniauskas himself also said last week that he was shocked by the prosecutors’ request. The conservative said he did not understand why he deserved special attention from prosecutors.

“I have not been questioned in any case, I had no indication that there were any problems with the expenses of my activity as a member of the council. I myself don’t think that I have committed any wrongdoing either”, wondered A. Vyšniauskas.

The parliament will take the final decision on the destruction of immunity of a member of the Seimas.
