This two-day campaign is organized in partnership with the National Club of Water Sports and the Association Champions of Fnideq of underwater fishing and environmental protection. The children were able to observe up close in a mini-laboratory algae and all kinds of sea pebbles that they collected, under the supervision of specialists.

The children, visibly very enthusiastic and very interested, also followed explanations on scuba diving as well as the threat of marine pollution on biodiversity given by professional divers who collected, on this occasion, a significant quantity of waste.

In a statement to MAP, Sami El Iklil, head of programs at the Coastline and Oceans division of the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection, said that ONEE, in partnership with civil society, launched an ecological and educational initiative under the theme “experts of the future” for the benefit of a group of children, who collect algae and plastic waste on the beach before studying them in a laboratory.

For her part, Wafaa Hafid, head of the local communications department at ONEE, told MAP that this campaign is part of the “B7ar bla plastic” (Sea without plastic) operation launched by the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection as part of the “Clean Beaches” program, stressing that the awareness program carried out by ONEE for vacationers and children in summer camps includes an operation to collect marine waste by professional divers.

She also reported on the organization of an exhibition on biodiversity as well as various other educational and entertainment activities on, among other things, recycling and selective sorting, with a view to raising awareness among people about the importance of preserving the oceans against pollution.

A message that seems to have been well received by the children who participated in this operation, expressing to the MAP microphone their joy at having had the opportunity to take part in the programmed activities and above all to learn a lot about marine and coastal ecosystems.
