Guatemalan athletes’ agenda in the last week of Paris 2024
After 10 days of testing, we Guatemalans are excited and waiting for the participation of the Guatemalan athletes who still have competitions in Paris 2024.
During the first week, Guatemala vibrated to the maximum in the games with the obtaining of two Olympic medals: Adriana Ruano with the gold medal in the women’s Olympic trap, on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, and Jean Pierre Brol with the bronze medal in the Olympic trap shooting with hunting weapons, on Tuesday, July 30, 2024.
In addition, we experience indescribable emotions such as competitions Jacqueline Solís in judo; Lucero Mejía and Erick Gordillo in swimming; Erick and José Barrondo in race walking; Waleska Soto and Sebastián Bermúdez in shooting with hunting weapons; Mariandrée Chacón in athletics and Kevin Cordón, the standard-bearer in badminton.
The week began with the participation of Sailor Juan Ignacio Maegli with races 9 and 10. However, due to lack of wind, the boats could no longer set out and Juani said goodbye to Paris 2024.

Guatemala made its debut at the Olympic Games in Helsinki 1952 and has participated in every edition since Mexico 1968, where it has managed to leave its mark in many of the competitions.
Before Paris 2024, the best participation had been in London 2012 with the silver medal obtained by the walker Erick Barrondo in the 20 kilometer walk, as well as in Tokio 2020 with Kevin Cordón’s fourth place in badminton and Luis Carlos Martínez’s final in swimming. What a joke!
