The Accommodation Center for the Elderly in Tafersit, in the province of Driouch, represents an eloquent model of the social approach of the INDH, aimed at providing valuable support to vulnerable populations, particularly people in situations of great precariousness.
Managed by the Tafersit Sustainable Development Association, this project gives substance to the reflections carried out by the INDH capable of promoting solidarity and territorial equity in its social dimension, and this with the aim of structuring, among other things, aid in favor of a population increasingly affected by precariousness.
With a total cost of three million dirhams (MDH), including 2.15 MDH as a contribution from the INDH (construction and equipment), the establishment offers comprehensive support through various services, including accommodation, catering, assistance and medical and social monitoring, as well as other activities.
Operational since last July, this social structure, the first on a provincial scale, includes three pavilions with a capacity of 16 beds (men and women), in addition to a treatment room, two refectories, green spaces and other administrative outbuildings.
In a statement to MAP, the head of the social action division (DAS) in the province of Driouch, Abdelouahed Belaari, indicated that this center is part of the second INDH program relating to the support of people in precarious situations, through which the Initiative has financed 40 projects at the provincial level for a total cost of more than 23 MDH.
“The result of a participatory diagnosis carried out by local human development committees, this establishment offers quality social services, within an adapted framework aimed at improving living conditions and supporting this social category,” he argued.
For his part, the president of the Tafersit Sustainable Development Association, Mohamed Chahban, stressed the importance of this center in supporting social cases at the provincial level, particularly elderly people in difficult situations, by providing them with decent services in order to improve their living conditions and preserve their dignity.
“This is a real refuge capable of establishing a living environment that preserves the human dignity of people in precarious situations, allowing this social category to resume their place in society, regain their dignity and thus reconnect with the taste for life,” he said.
In the same vein, three centers dedicated to people with disabilities were built in Tafersit (4.1 MDH), Dar El-Kebdani (6.44 MDH) and Boudinar (3.65 MDH) for a total investment of around 14.19 MDH, including more than 13 MDH as a contribution from the INDH.
These three centres, which benefit some 716 beneficiaries, aim to improve the lives of people with disabilities, while providing them with a suitable space that offers, among other things, psychological support, sports activities, physiotherapy, guidance and listening, in addition to the inclusion and incubation of talents.
