Basic food products: Price stability in the coming days (Nadia Fettah)
Rabat – The prices of basic food products are expected to stabilize in the coming days, a trend that coincides with the advent of the blessed month of Ramadan, said Tuesday the Minister of Economy and Finance, Nadia Fettah Alaoui.
In a statement to the press before the holding of the Finance and Economic Development Committee at the House of Representatives, devoted to examining issues relating to government measures to address the rise in prices, Ms. Fettah Alaoui noted that the prices of some food products have increased in recent days due to weather conditions, noting that these prices should stabilize or decrease to be affordable for all citizens thanks to the expected increase in the pace of production in the coming days.
Noting, for example, that during the month of January, the price of tomatoes increased due to the climatic situation before falling, she noted that basic products are available in all markets, ensuring that the prices of some products are decreasing or stable compared to last year, while the prices of subsidized products remain stable.
The minister also recalled that the government continues to take measures likely to offset the rise in prices of certain basic products.
A meeting of the high-level inter-ministerial committee for monitoring and following up on market supplies and prices, held recently at the Ministry of the Interior, noted that the current supply in national markets of food products is diversified and abundant, particularly products that are in high demand before and during the holy month of Ramadan.
