New Delhi: Half a century and the wheel of time has been completed. Sheikh Hasina has become homeless again today. The reservation movement in Bangladesh has sacrificed the Sheikh Hasina government. The outgoing Prime Minister has had to leave the country to save his life. There is an atmosphere of chaos in the Prime Minister’s residence. People are carrying away furniture and other items from there on their shoulders. The saddest picture came of the breaking of the statue of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. About 50 years ago, this Mujibur Rahman along with 18 members of his family were killed in a military coup. Only Mujibur Rahman’s two daughters Sheikh Hasina and Sheikh Rihana were able to survive, that too with the help of India. Today the wheel of time has been completed and Sheikh Hasina is again in India’s refuge. India had given refuge to Sheikh Hasina after the assassination of her father and the then Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 1975.
Then Haseena had lost her whole family
Hasina and Rihanna survived the military coup of 1975 because both of them had left Bangladesh and gone to Germany 15 days earlier. Hasina’s husband was a nuclear scientist and was in Germany. 30 July 1975 was the date when Hasina met her father for the last time. Two weeks later, on 15 August 1975, Hasina came to know that her father was killed in the military coup. But till then she did not know that not only her father but the whole family had been wiped out. India’s Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was worried about the two daughters of the Mujib family. Indira Gandhi took responsibility for Sheikh Hasina
Hasina spoke to Indira Gandhi. They decided to take refuge in India. Then a plan was made as to how to bring Hasina and Rihanna to India without anyone knowing. Finally, on the afternoon of 24 August, Sheikh Hasina flew with her husband from Frankfurt, Germany. India had sent an Air India plane to bring them. The plane reached Delhi in the early hours of 25 August 1975. They were kept in a safe house at 56 Ring Road. To hide their real identity, they were given new identities of Mr. and Mrs. Majumdar. Hasina stayed in Delhi amid tight security
After a few days, Sheikh Hasina was shifted to a three-room house in C Block of Pandara Park. Security personnel were deployed all around. Detectives were also deployed. Hasina’s scientist husband got a job in the Atomic Energy Commission in New Delhi. He worked there for seven years. Along with this, three security rules were made…
1. Sheikh Hasina should not go out of the house.
2. They do not have to reveal their real identity to anyone.
3. Do not keep in touch with anyone in Delhi.
Then Pranab da became the guardian
Indira Gandhi entrusted Pranab Mukherjee with the responsibility of Sheikh Hasina. Mukherjee did not hesitate in playing the role of Hasina’s guardian. Hasina became close to not only Pranab Da but also his family. Hasina’s son Joy and Pranab Da’s son Abhijeet became good friends. Pranab Da’s wife took special care of Hasina. When Pranab Mukherjee’s wife passed away in 2015, Sheikh Hasina immediately reached Delhi.
Now when will Sheikh Hasina be able to return?
Sheikh Hasina’s plane is still headed towards Delhi. Hasina, who came to Delhi from Germany 50 years ago, had to spend six years here. She was able to return to her homeland Bangladesh on May 17, 1981. This time there has been no military coup in Bangladesh and neither has Hasina’s family suffered any harm. But the conspiracy to crush Hasina and her party Awami League under the guise of reservation movement is similar to the blow of 1975. Hasina is homeless again today.
