Afghanistan cricketer Ihsanullah Janat has been banned for five years for corruption. This opener batsman will not be able to enter the field in any kind of cricket at this time. Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) confirmed the ban of Ihsanullah in a notification.
Today Wednesday (August 7) in a statement on behalf of the Afghanistan Cricket Board, 26-year-old Ihsanullah broke the anti-corruption policy of ACB and ICC during the second season of the Kabul Premier League.
ACB commented in the statement, ‘Ihsanullah Janat has violated section 2.1.1 of the anti-corruption policy. The article deals with attempting to illegally influence the outcome of a match. He has been banned from cricket related activities for 5 years. Ihsanullah has admitted his involvement in complaints and corruption.
Not only Ihsanullah, ACB’s anti-corruption unit has also investigated three other Afghan cricketers. Action will be taken against them if proper evidence is found.
Ihsanullah made his debut for the Afghanistan national team in 2017. He played 20 matches in three editions. This includes 16 ODIs, 3 Tests and 1 T20. Scored 307 in ODIs. He did not play for Afghanistan after June 2022.
