An institution under the Ministry of Health sent expired COVID-19 tests to Rokiškis

According to him, the tests given by the ministry should have been distributed to the children of Rokiškis district through educational institutions. According to the mayor, such actions are potentially criminal because the quality of the tests was not ensured.

“At first glance, the gift seemed useful, but a closer look revealed that the tests were expired. They were made in January 2022 and were supposed to be valid until June 2023. The reagents inside some of the tests had already evaporated or dried up,” the “Rokiškios Sirena” portal announced.

It is noted that the ministry agreed to accept the tests back.

As the news portal announced on Tuesday 15min.ltHealth Minister’s spokesman Tom Bagdon said the latest tests are valid for 36 months from the stated expiry date.

Nevertheless, the ministry instructed the National Health Care Laboratory, which sent the tests, to return them, and will wait for an official explanation regarding their distribution.

“Why they distributed it is still unclear to us, we will wait for an official explanation”, – 15min.lt said T. Bagdonas.
