Through the organization of this 2nd edition, ICESCO reaffirms the importance of promoting sport to consolidate the values of coexistence and peace, support cohesion, solidarity and resilience in communities and contribute to strengthening physical and mental health and well-being, focusing on people with specific needs.
Organized by ICESCO and the Moroccan National Commission for Education, Science and Culture, in partnership with the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports and the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, and in collaboration with the Islamic Center for the Development of Trade, the Royal Moroccan Federation of School Sports and the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region, this Marathon covered a route of approximately nine kilometers and saw the participation of children under 15, adults, women and men over 65, as well as people with special needs.
In a statement to the press on this occasion, Salim M. AlMalik, Director General of ICESCO, stressed that this Marathon was an opportunity to promote the values of social cohesion and solidarity between different layers of society.
For his part, the Secretary General of the Moroccan National Commission for Education, Science and Culture, Jamal Eddine El Aloua, indicated in a similar statement that this 2nd edition of the ICESCO Marathon was marked by the participation of people from different social categories, including people with special needs, which denotes the spirit of solidarity that characterizes Moroccan society.
In a statement to MAP, Nadia, a student who took part in the Marathon, explained that her participation in this race aims, in addition to the sporting aspect, to meet other participants who share the same competitive spirit, expressing her joy at taking part in a sporting event of such magnitude.
For this 2nd edition, the ICESCO Marathon was won, in the category “People with special needs/boys”, by Redouane Loussif, ahead of Hicham Samou, and Hafid Lahrak.
Regarding “People with special needs/girls”, first place went to Fadwa Moussamih, who came ahead of Ataa Fadli and Hiba Badiss.
In the “Ladies (16-40 years old)” category, victory was won by Hanane El Bejjaoui, while Salma El Falhoun and Fatimazahra Defar came in 2nd and 3rd place respectively.
In the “Ladies over 40” category, Naima El Makhloufi won the Marathon ahead of Asmae Derkaoui and Hanane Karakchou.
In the category “Men (16-40 years old), Othmane Chefanji came in first place, while Aymane El Khomssi finished the race in 2nd place and Mouhssine Ouissa in 3rd place.
As for the “Men over 40” category, the ICESCO Marathon was won by Mohamed Maji, ahead of Mohamed El Tibnaoui and Ahmed El Fettami.
At the end of this Marathon, prizes were awarded to the winners in the different categories.
