The opposition leader indicated that at 1:00 p.m. local time, 42.1% of the electoral roll had already voted, which is equivalent to 9 million people, assuring that “This is huge and if it continues like this it will be a historic figure. “It is clear that if Maduro clings to power by force or violence, we will soon see an even greater wave of migration,” said María Corina Machado, who hopes for Edmundo González’s victory.
This is because “a peaceful transition to democracy will mean not only that the exodus will stop, but also that many will return,” said Machado, who despite winning the opposition primaries, was disqualified from running in the elections.
