Asif Mahmud, one of the coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement, demanded the abolition of fascism in the judiciary.

He made this claim in a message sent to the media on Wednesday (August 7) around 1:30 p.m.

Asif said, ‘We note with concern that justices who are members of the fascist system are still wandering in the judicial department. We heard that there are attempts to disrupt the post-coup student government in the same way that we were being challenged in the name of the court before the coup.’

He said, ‘We are demanding the removal of the Chief Justice, Appellate Division judges who are active partners of the fascist system soon. The process of establishing a student government in the country should be speeded up by appointing patriotic and pro-people judges to the said vacant posts without delay. I hope the judges will voluntarily resign by morning. Otherwise we will have to move towards a stricter programme.’

Besides, he called upon the interim government to implement the necessary policies for the judiciary to function independently and effectively and the voluntary resignation of the beneficiaries and collaborators of fascism at all levels of the country.
