BPIP Submits Duplicate Heirloom Flag, Asks Regents & Mayors to Protect State Emblem
On Tuesday, August 6, 2024, the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP) handed over duplicates of the Heirloom Flag to representatives of regencies/cities throughout Indonesia at the Balai Samudera building in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta.
BPIP Main Secretary Tonny Agung Arifianto emphasized the significance of the flag as a symbol of the state and the nation’s identity.
“This flag is a symbol of the state, this flag is the identity of the nation and we continue to guard it properly for the sake of the integrity of the nation and state of the Republic of Indonesia,” Tonny said.
He also requested that district and city governments immediately re-submit the application for the duplicate flag. In case the original heirloom flag becomes damaged or unfit for flying within a 10-year period, the central government, regional governments, and other institutions can request a replacement from BPIP.
Tonny explained that the duplicate flag has been flown during independence ceremonies for over 55 years by various government agencies.
The duplicate flag is now being used as a replacement for the original heirloom flag, which is no longer suitable for flying.
