A worker of a private company was sentenced to 9 months in prison. The prosecutor, however, requested a slightly harsher sentence: 1 year and 2 months, with the execution of the sentence suspended.
The case was heard in the Kaunas District Court on Wednesday, and the verdict is expected to be announced in September.
The man was brought to the attention of law enforcement in 2022 after he befriended two girls under the age of 16 online.
He then sent them explicit pictures of naked men from his phone.
Concerned, the parents of young children reported the incident to the police, leading to the initiation of a criminal investigation.
Authorities identified and apprehended the suspect, who had in his possession not only the aforementioned images but also pornography involving minors. He was charged with two offenses: child molestation and possession of child pornography.
The defendant, who pleaded guilty, requested leniency from the Kaunas District Court, but the prosecutor argued for a more severe sentence.
According to portal lrytas.lt, this is the first criminal conviction for the accused.
