## Chilean Niemann in prime position for Olympic golf
The Chilean golfer Joaquin Niemann is in a prime position to secure a medal at the ongoing Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Golf is one of Chile‘s greatest hopes for success in the Games.
Niemann, alongside Mito Pereira, has been looking to win Chile its first Olympic medal since 2008. He started the competition with a strong performance at Le Golf National, living up to expectations.
After finishing with a score of -5, Niemann sits in third position, three strokes behind the leader, Hideki Matsuyama.
Other notable performers include Xander Schauffele from the US, who is also ahead of the Chilean.
Despite a bogey on the final hole, Niemann maintained a strong performance throughout the round. He expressed satisfaction with his overall showing in Paris.
Niemann will compete again on Friday, August 2nd at 5:06 AM (Chile time) with the aim of maintaining his position at the top of the leaderboard.
The Olympic golf tournament will conclude on Sunday, and it remains to be seen whether Niemann will finally achieve Chile’s long-awaited Olympic golf medal since 2008.
