The Media Development Agency works in collaboration with other government agencies to promptly identify and counteract fakes directed against Azerbaijan.
As reported by Day.Az, citing Trend, the agency’s executive director, Akhmed Ismayilov, stated this during a meeting focused on the possibilities of fair pre-election campaigning and the role of media outlets in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
Ismayilov emphasized the need for heightened vigilance in cases where information is deliberately manipulated to mislead the public and foster negative perceptions of Azerbaijan.
“Experience shows that elections bring an increase in external threats to Azerbaijan’s information environment, with systematic manipulation of various information channels. The timely support of Azerbaijani media outlets is crucial in mitigating these threats. It is important to note that individuals and groups who consistently violate media ethics, exploiting technological advancements to disseminate inaccurate and biased information, have been consistently condemned by the Azerbaijani media community and have been addressed through state measures to improve information security.”
It is worth mentioning that on June 28, President Ilham Aliyev dissolved the sixth convocation of the Milli Majlis and announced early parliamentary elections for September 1.
