A fan of Vasco da Gama had purchased a ticket to watch the game against Atlético Goianiense, counting for the second leg of the round of 16 of the Copa do Brasil. Everything seemed to be going smoothly until halftime. Vasco was leading 1-0, with a goal from Lucas Piton (which put the Gigante da Colina in the lead in the tie). During one of the entertainment activities at halftime, a fan was called onto the field to take a penalty shot against Almirante, the club’s mascot. However, at the moment of the shot, this same fan slipped and suffered a serious injury. According to Brazilian press reports, the fan in question suffered a fracture, as can be seen in the following images. We caution viewers that this video may be distressing.
